Planting Seeds for a Digital Garden
It took an hour once I committed to using convenient technology and services. I’m using Google Domains and Ghost to host this blog.
The annoyances were tolerable. A Ghost blog is created with 8 posts containing instructions. I deleted them one by one. I removed the social media links and existing pages. The available themes didn’t catch my eye. Atilla was free and switching to it was simply a zip download and upload. Adding a license was a copy and paste from a friend’s blog. DNS configuration was mostly waiting.
It’s not version controlled, gpg-signed, sans javascript, org-mode exported, reproducibly built, self-hosted, automatically deployed to a declaratively configured system, mirrored to IPFS, mirrored to Geminispace, or configured to accept Dogecoin donations. But it does exist and it’ll only grow.
